New Year Islamic Calendar Visit to Inter Tribal Association of Gurara LGA ,Chair Laments critical issues
In a bid to foster understanding and report on the sentiments of various groups in Gurara Local Government Area, our team paid a New Year Islamic calendar visit to the Inter Tribal Association. The Chairman, Hon. Othman Baba Ibraheem, warmly welcomed us and expressed delight over our visit.
During the interaction, we inquired about his views on the forthcoming local government elections and the credibility of the candidates. Hon. Othman Baba Ibraheem described both candidates as credible but declined to discuss them further, opting instead to facilitate a meeting with the 19 ethnic community leaders for a more direct insight into their perspectives.
The Chairman also shared the history of Inter Tribal Association, tracing its inception to the PDP government under Chief Servant in Niger State. He expressed dissatisfaction with the current administration in our local government, citing a lack of recognition and benefits, including pilgrimage slots and political appointments, which were previously enjoyed by PDP’s government
Hon. Othman highlighted specific grievances, such as the Governor’s visit to the local government, where the Governor promised N1 million contribution resulted in only N500,000 being received. He also lamented the allocation of only 10 slots out of 4,000 empowerment opportunities provided by the Federal Government.
Despite these challenges, the Chairman emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence, urging Nigerians to live together harmoniously. He concluded by wishing for a peaceful forthcoming local government election.
