I am very much delighted standing before these wonderful people, I appreciate you all for honoring our invitation, our calls for the flag off of Ember month safety campaign by the federal road safety corps, R52.1113 Ikotun unit command.
Road traffic crash is a dangerous disease we must tackle quickly because it affects the future of our society, in one way or the other, each one of us, may have lost someone dear to us to a road crash either directly or indirectly.
Federal road safety corps in Nigeria was created to address the messy, unpredictable and indeed dangerous traffic situation characterized by an unpredicted wave of road traffic crashes with its attendant colossal human and material losses.
Consequently, the corps has come up with various interventions and initiatives geared towards ensuring safer use of roads for all. One of such initiatives is the Ember months campaign program which is a public enlightenment tool in reaching out to the roads users.
This year’s theme is very apt considering the number of persons who may have lost their lives to distracted driving.
Distracted driving is the act of driving while engaged in activities that divert the driver’s attention away from the road.
The federal road safety corps has always believed in the efficacy of public enlightenment as an out – and out tool for changing people’s attitude on issues of road safety. This believe is premised on the ground that if people are made to realize the implications of their actions, they would be persuaded to avoid taking the avoidable.
ACC Florence Edor psc, Mnim Unit commander R52.111 Ikotun unit command in her address lists out the objectives of the 2025 Ember months campaign.
Raise awareness about the economic, health, mental and emotional cost of road traffic crashes.
Educate the public on the legal and ethical implications of violating traffic rules and regulations.
To promote the importance of road safety and the prevention of crashes occasioned by speeding.
Strengthen inter agency collaboration.
Secure the by in of traditional , youth and religious leaders opinions.
Sensitize commuters on the use of FRSC mobile app to monitor the conduct of drivers .
One of the major distractions while driving is the use of mobile phones in any form while driving, it constitutes a traffic offense that attracts penalty.
The commander concluded by welcome the traditional rulers, NURTW state and branch executives, the chairman and members of the Lagos state taxi drivers Orelope, the chairman and secretary of Acomoran Lagos state chapter, the youths representative,and other personnel present to this epoch making and problem solving gathering targeted towards saving the lives of the present and the future generations .

The Zonal Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, distinguished officers and men of the FRSC, other invited dignitaries, members of the press, ladies and gentlemen.
It gives me great pleasure to be here today as a special guest at this important program organized by the Federal Road Safety Corps. Let me begin by commending the Corps for its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property on our roads. Your consistent campaigns, public enlightenment programs, and enforcement efforts have gone a long way in reducing accidents and promoting discipline among road users.
Road safety is not the sole responsibility of the FRSC; it is a collective duty. Every driver, pedestrian, motorcyclist, and passenger has a role to play in ensuring that our highways remain safe. I therefore use this opportunity to appeal to our people—particularly our youths—to obey traffic rules, avoid excessive speeding, shun drunk driving, and ensure that their vehicles are roadworthy at all times.
In our traditional capacity as community leaders, we are committed to supporting the FRSC in its sensitization programs. The palace remains open to collaborations that will help spread road safety messages to the grassroots, especially through town hall meetings, community outreaches, and youth associations.
I also wish to encourage the Corps to continue its public education efforts with patience and understanding. Together, we can build a culture where safety becomes second nature to every Nigerian road user.
Once again, I thank the organizers for this invitation and commend all the officers and men of the FRSC for their selfless service to the nation. May God continue to guide and protect you as you discharge your duties.

The chief of staff, Chief Olamilekan in his vote of thanks advice the driver’s representatives , the NURTW to sensitize and educate her drivers to avoid drinking or taking any substance that affects them while driving and also to stop the sales of such at their respectful garages.
